Pinching Pennies

Sooooo
I have to say that i have never had to really sit & think about how to "pinch pennies" Me & my husband have always been lucky enough to make money & spend it in whatever we want... That can change quickly..
I am the primary bread winner at the moment since my husband  hours have been cut back... It is really tough considering that we put all of our savings in a no touch basis.

So instead of whining i am going to give you a list of things we are doing differently... we have only been doing this for the past month so hopefully we see some changes when the bills come..

  • Laundry Twice a week
  • Eating at home everyday & packing Lunches
  • One entertainment day out of the week (we chose Sunday)
  • No TV all week except Fridays ( this helps the kids get out & play too)
  • Making my own laundry detergent
  • No sodas  in the grocery list
  • 60.00 a week grocery budget (this has been tough
  • 150.00 Monthly Budget for Sam's club
  • Air dry certain items of clothing to avoid drying (kinda loving this)
So that's kind of all we are doing at the moment...

i immediately saw my money being saved on the packing lunch everyday deal... it really does make a difference...

Comment below if you have any other ideas!

My Take On Freezer Meals !

So a lot of people out there say doing "freezer meals" can save you alot of money.
here is my take on that:

first of all do not confuse freezer meals with buying frozen food.
i can say that the only boxed freezer foods i ever purchase are hot pockets,Digiornio pizzas, & tostinos pizzas. other then that the rest of the items in my freezer are items i have cooked & am storing.
I freeze bread,juice,spaghetti sauce,casseroles,& meats of course.
i definitely recommend that you invest in a chest freezer if you are considering doing this.
i bought mine at home depot  & could not be happier with it. I do feel like i should have checked on craiglist first as you can find some amazing deals on there.
Now, I do feel that you should eat frozen meals everyday. for example: since Monday is my busiest day i plan a freezer meal for that day cook Tuesday & Wednesday & a freezer meal on Friday & Saturday.
that way you do not get bored of it.
i can say that the number one thing that i save money cooking & freezing are breakfast burritos.
i make about 30 of them to last me about a month or so for me & my hubby.

hope this sparks some ideas!

How Frugal Was Your Day?

So my day was so so yesterday. I spent 28 dollars at the dollar tree. which is usually what i spend there every month.
we ate dinner at my in law's so i did not have to make dinner (Hooray!!)
Sunday will be our eating out days so I'm trying to score some deals so i don't feel any remorse!

today i will be making some blankets & trying a new coupon organization system.
i will post some pictures & let you know how that goes.

How Frugal Was Your Day?

So i thought i would do a daily series of post on how frugal my days are.
You are more then welcome to leave a comment with what you are doing to get your family on a financial frugal path. I love to read them & get new ideas!!!

My frugolosity (cute word i made up LOL) for yesterday:

So yesterday we made dinner at home. & i packed lunch for today's lunches.
I made some delicious enchiladas that where yummy. i also made a few box cakes & froze them.
My son loves .. I mean REALLY LOVES CAKE so sometimes i make an impulse cake purchase so he can have a slice. Not a good idea considering it can cost 8-10 dollars, By freezing them i am making my life much easier & i love how convenient it is. I did a few loads of laundry with my DIY Laundry detergent & i have to say i am so content with the way it cleans my clothes. I am Going to make a few more batches this weekend.

I am painting the basement this week so i am so exited about that.

Halloween is tomorrow & i hope everyone stay's safe ! there are some real sickos out there.

Stay safe everyone !
